Mission and Values

OUR MISSION is to promote Visibility, Equity, and Community. We do this in the following ways:

VISIBILITY:  Showcase, support, and celebrate elite women, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer and genderfluid ultimate players.

EQUITY:  Actively participate in creating community partnerships and relationships, focusing on supporting girls, transgender and non-binary youth, youth of color, and those of all socio-economic classes.

COMMUNITY:  Share our love, joy, and passion for the sport of ultimate with others, have a positive impact on our community, and work to make our ultimate community more representative of our community as a whole.

We believe in promoting equity & diversity, and strive to inspire and empower future generations.

We will continue to learn and grow, including re-evaluating our language in order to reflect inclusivity of marginalized people that the league seeks to support.

Leslie Boey

Co-Owner &
Operations Manager

Leslie has been a player, coach, and leader in the Madison, Indiana, and Minnesota ultimate communities for the past 10 years. For Strike, she organizes behind the scenes and manages tryouts, hiring, and more. As a scholar and professional at the University of Minnesota, she brings her background in education, organization, and social justice to the Strike Operations Team. Leslie would love to talk to anyone about favorite restaurants and breweries.

Eva Maxson

Co-Founder & Co-Owner 

As a member of the Operations Team, Eva focuses on ensuring that as an organization, we honor our commitment to our mission: visibility, equity and community. Eva is currently located in Brussels, Belgium where she works as an engineer focusing on sustainability and reducing carbon footprints. She brings her passion, thoughtfulness, and love of ultimate to the Strike Operations Team.

Holly Denecour

Co-Owner

Holly was brought on as a coach for the 2022 Strike season and signed on as an owner when the team transitioned to new ownership shortly after. For the 2023 season, she has decided to step down as coach to focus on her co-ownership duties. Along with her professional experience in teaching, she brings over 20 years of elite playing, captaining and coaching experience in ultimate communities in Madison, Texas, Colorado and Minnesota to the Strike Operations Team.

Sarah Mondschein
she/her


PUL Board Representative

Sarah started playing ultimate in 2015 and played four years with Belladonna Ultimate at University of Wisconsin - Madison. Her club experience includes Madison NOISE Ultimate and Minneapolis Drag'n Thrust, where she served as a Spirit Captain and a member of the Equity Committee.

Most of her friends and teammates call her Say (family nickname) or variations of Moonshine (Moon, Moonie etc.). She is honored and excited to support Minnesota Strike by be a part of the PUL Board and is looking forward to being an innovator, collaborator, listener, learner to support the other board members, PUL players, fans and border ultimate community. Professionally, Sarah is a chemical engineer currently working in research and development with General Mills in Minneapolis.

Laura Osterlund

Social Media Manager
 

Laura picked up a disc during her senior year of high school and has never put it down since. She played for and helped lead the mixed/open team at Bethel University, where she studied journalism, media production, and Spanish and graduated in May 2021. 

Laura has since used her degree to to work as a contributing writer with Ultiworld, specializing in the D-III Women's and Club Mixed Divisions. She has most recently reported at WUCC and USAU Club Nationals. In her six years of playing, she has engaged in the ultimate community in the Twin Cities through mixed club, leagues, and "foos-bee."

Sponsorships Coordinator

 

Chris has loved playing and coaching ultimate for the last 13 years because of the strong sense of inclusion that comes with the sport. The times when he's enjoyed playing ultimate the most is when he's been able to create strong and meaningful relationships with teammates both on and off the field. Now he's working to help Strike create meaningful relationships with individuals, organizations, businesses, and the many levels of Minnesota ultimate in order to help promote the team's values of visibility, equity, and community.

When not playing on a Guy-Fieri-inspired ultimate team Chris works with technology at a Bloomington elementary school and enjoys volleyball, outdoor recreation, and spending time with his family. If you know any good gelato spots around the Twin Cities please contact him immediately.

Änna Hagstrom

Änna is a co-founder of Minnesota Strike and a former Owner and Director of Operations. As Director of Operations for the first two and a half years of the organization, Änna led Minnesota Strike in its founding, inaugural season, brand-building, and community and corporate partnerships. She spearheaded several community engagement programs, including the Minnesota Strike Mentorship Program, and Racial Justice Speaker Series in collaboration with Minnesota Ultimate.

Eva fell in love with ultimate in her native Belgium, where she represented her country on the National Team. Eva recently moved back to Belgium, where she is an engineer.

As Co-Founder of Minnesota Strike she is proud to see her vision of bringing women's professional ultimate to Minnesota become reality! 

ABOUT THE PREMIER ULTIMATE LEAGUE

The Premier Ultimate League (PUL) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization founded in 2019 with eight teams. Strike joined the PUL in 2020 in the league's first expansion. The league now includes 12 teams competing in 3 geographic divisions.
